Sometimes I can get that way. But when I let my guard down and try something new, it's usually a very rewarding feeling I get.

Wilbert Bowers @ Mirr Ranch GroupWilbert Bowershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12174475618639945253noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029118492029130864.post-57439978651999721462015-05-21T22:42:23.685-07:002015-05-21T22:42:23.685-07:00My Razz horse hates a snaffle bit. But that being said Jessie does NOT like the hackamore at all, she is much more of a bridle, the bigger the mouthpiece the more she relaxes.
Good for you to try something new. The only thing I don't like about those particular bridle is the pinch of it when it goes under their chin. But maybe it isn't as bad as it looks.Crystalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18035210092855895218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029118492029130864.post-60357512391659680722015-04-16T16:07:27.384-07:002015-04-16T16:07:27.384-07:00I *love* the western style one you have on My Boy,...I *love* the western style one you have on My Boy, very pretty!
I started my draft horse in a halter, then rope halter side pull. Always, always, always wanted to try a bit less bridle on him. Just might have to now after hearing your success.
Also started my young Appy in a bosal, then onto a snaffle. But I still feel like I need a little more control with him, lol!
Great to see you posting again! Ive always loved your blogs;Aprilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10629989466407388377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029118492029130864.post-53077877257001591552015-04-13T15:07:39.801-07:002015-04-13T15:07:39.801-07:00I started both our geldings in a rope halter, even...I started both our geldings in a rope halter, even took them on trail rides in them, then moved on to a tongue relief snaffle bit. I am all for riding bitless, whether it be a bosal, side-pull, bitless bridle - even a mechanical hackamore if used properly. But...my horse Ladde, absolutely freaked out with the bitless bridle! I have never seen him react so violently - ever! Needless to say, I do not use it on him, but he'll go in a side pull all day long. I think horses are a lot like people - different horses like different gear. We all have our preferences and need to find what works for our horse.C-ingspotshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17744931697050670013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5029118492029130864.post-55971010224802223692015-04-11T10:51:13.955-07:002015-04-11T10:51:13.955-07:00You're bridles look good, but see how Justin D...You're bridles look good, but see how Justin Dunn's bridle has this buckle right underneath the horse's eye? That gave me some trouble. You have to keep the nose band tight or that buckle will slide up into the horse's eye when you pull on the opposite rein. Nothing will make a well broke horse go nuts faster then poking him in the eye with metal, so that's one of the hazards with some of these bitless bridles.

For my horse, I actually didn't see any difference in his performance and behavior between having a bit or not having a bit, but that's his personality. With other horses there can be a big difference between the two, so people just have to try it both ways and see what works for them and their horse.Nuzzling Muzzleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07649710635013663900noreply@blogger.com
