New Breed of Hunter Jumper

That pretty Pinto in the last post, what had him so intrigued??

Well, Ranch Boy's mom told us the other night to bring out the camera and capture some of the mightly elk bulls that were grazing in the horse pasture.

One by one they wandered through the pasture, jumped the fence, crossed the driveway, jumped another fence, then wandered towards the hills.

They were pretty amazing, I have seen elk but have never seen any with racks like this! Cars were stopping on the road to gawk (drool?)

Have you ever been hunting? I just don't think I could take down one of these majestic beasts for sport. When it comes to "game", I think I'll draw the line at fishing.

We're lucky enough to see quite a few elk on our trail rides. Along with deer, hawks, owls, wild turkeys, and occasionally a coyote.

Adios, elk bums!

Wow, cool shot of the Elk jumping the fence!! They sure do have a huge rack!
I don't think I ever saw any Elk close up while I have been at the ranch, maybe this year?

It is so nice to see that you are putting your pony training skills to good use on the ranch. I think that your efforts to teach the elk the proper jumping technique will serve them well in the future.

Yes I hunt. I have a terrible afliction that only lets me see steaks on the hoof, like a cow!!

Great pics!!!! I got some of a pair of deer in our yard, then I had to chase them off because they were in my little garden! LOL

But they taste soooo good!

Awesome photos...and they are beautiful and majestic, but I'm with reddunappy...I see steaks on the hoof. Ones you don't even have to take care of day in and day out. LOL

Wow! Incredible action shot!

I don't think I'd be able to shoot one, but I would eat one! Elk meat is yummy!
